As part of the worldwide celebration of reggae legend Bob Marley’s birthday, The Meditators and uShaka Marine World Entertainment will bring the laid back vibe of the Caribbean to Wahooz Beach Bar on the uShaka promenade along with guest bands, guest DJ’s and special guest artist Nkulee Dube (Daughter to the late Legendary South African reggae artist, Lucky Dube) .

This year is the third year where fans will descend to uShaka to commemorate the massive influence that Bob Marley continues to have on local music and culture long after his death. This year’s promises to be bigger and better and a perfect excuse to kick back and soak up the unique rhythms of this Jamaican legend.

Durban based reggae band, The Meditators, are testament to Marley’s massive impact. Formed in 1991, they released their first reggae album in 1993, followed with a second in 2000. The band also has their own recording studio, Big Up Productions and are currently busy recording their 5th Album.  In 2002 and 2003, they played at the Awesome Africa Festival. In 2004, they were part of Vodacom Beach Africa. They also performed with Rita Marley and the I–threes from Jamaica at the Bat Centre as part of Women’s Day Celebrations in Durban and were also invited to celebrate 50 years of Jamaican Independence by the Jamaican High Commission in Pretoria early last year. The Meditators are the resident band at uShaka Marine World performing every Sunday at Wahooz on the Promenade.
